The former prison Vita Duvan is open with an electro acoustic installation by Maria W Horn.

The artist Markus Öhrn and the poet David Väyrynens sound installation "Bikt" is exhibited on the ice by Residensgatan in Luleå. Listen to older generations of Tornedal women and their testimonies.

The exhibitions at Norrbotten's Museum, Luleå konsthall, Välkommaskolan in Malmberget and the Silver Museum are unfortunatly closed.

Lulu is how Luleå first appeared in writing in 1327, a name of Sami origin that can be translated as “Eastern Water”. This is the title of the Luleå Biennial’s journal, fiirst published in conjunction with the Luleå Biennial 2018. For this years edition of the biennial readers are offered different points of entry to the biennial’s overall theme: realism today. The Lulu journal is made by the biennial’s artistic and invited guest editors. It is published here on the biennial’s website and can be downloaded for printing. You can probably sense there has been a whole lot of real estate here

Six years ago the poet David Väyrynen started driving around visiting friends and acquaintances in Gällivare, Koskullskulle and Malmberget to show them the consequences of the ravaging mining activities in the area. As he learnt more and more about the history, development and ongoing societal transformation of the district the tours where extended.

Up until today Väyrynen has taken more than 50 people on his tour, partly to share the knowledge of what is taking place with other, but not least to personally be able to follow the winding up of Malmberget and the parallell activities in Gällivare and Koskullskulle.

In You can probably sense there has been a whole lot of real estate here the audience gets to take part of a concentrate of one of these tours of societal change in which David Väyrynen recounts isolated anecdotes of what it is the passengers of his car can see.
